Marissa Gomez Schursky,

Marissa views individuals, couples, and families as being part of an interconnected system best understood by their interactions. She collaborates with her clients to explore their relationships with regards to themselves as well as others. Her theoretical approach is integrative, to meet the needs of the individual, couple, or family. She works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
She received advanced training for a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Iona College and has a BA in Psychology from Stony Brook University. During and following her undergraduate studies, she worked in the Intimate Relationships Lab headed by social psychology researcher and professor Dr. Arthur Aron. While studying for her MFT degree, she saw couples, families and individuals at the Iona Family Clinic in New Rochelle. Marissa has also interned at the Tri Center in Manhattan. She completed her clinical hours in a private practice and has experience working in a group practice setting. Along the way she has developed a special interest in counseling premarital and non-traditional couples.
Marissa has worked with clients from a wide variety of ages and cultures seeking support during transitional life cycles. She continues to expand her training in Modern Psychodynamic Group Therapy.
